The Gistfabriek in Delft has a monumental presence and industrial rhythm that drew me in. Designing an addition here challenged me to engage with history and respecting its identity while finding space for my own architectural voice.
A shared space for performance, learning, and work. Designing the poppodium, music school, and offices challenged me to choreograph overlapping rhythms of public life.
Designing with the box-in-box principle pushed me to think through every layer: from mounts and double walls for acoustic decoupling to breathable façades and thermal zoning for comfort.
Beneath the arcade, I aimed to create a sense of intimacy and shelter. Its spatial depth buffers the noise of the city, offering moments of pause, interaction, and quiet anticipation before entering the main program
The arcade became a tool to shape rhythm and procession, its repeating structure guiding movement while framing light and shadow to create a warm, welcoming threshold between public and private space.
